What is a trip hazard?

The ADA defines a trip hazard as any change in elevation greater than ¼ inch in adjacent surfaces. Trip hazards must be fixed in order to make a building safe and ADA compliant. Kent Home Services offers both concrete raising as well as removal and replacement services to make this happen.

What does concrete raising look like?

You may be asking, “What do I need to know about concrete raising?” and we’ve got the answers for you. This video will show you what concrete raising looks like and how the process works.

If you’re ready to fix your concrete, we’ll help you make it happen. Concrete raising is a simple, cost-effective method for eliminating trip hazards and toe-stubbers on sunken or uneven concrete. Concrete raising is a perfect application for sidewalks, driveways, porches, patios, garage floors, and concrete steps. Most concrete raising repairs  are completed in less than a day. There is minimal disturbance to your landscape. Small holes, about 1 ⅞ inches are drilled into your concrete. Our technicians pump a cementitious material beneath your concrete to raise it to the desired level. The grout mixture is comprised of sand and cement and designed especially for Michigan’s climate. After we raise the concrete, we patch the drilled holes with concrete. The patches may be a different color than your concrete, but they will change over time. Your newly leveled concrete can be used right away. Remember, pre-existing cracks in your concrete will remain, but the trip hazards will be gone. We can help you caulk or seal cracks and joints in order to keep water out. If your concrete is too damaged for the raising process, we can help you with removal and replacement with new concrete too. Kent Home Services has helped thousands of property owners raise and repair their concrete. We’re ready to help you too.
